Customer reviewsBetter for pretend exploring than real exploring
My young son and daughter have started an explorers club with their grandfather and take weekly treks into the woods behind his house to learn about plants and animals. I wanted to encourage the nature lessons with this cute adventurer set but it hasn t held up well. All of the pieces are made from cheap green plastic, with only the compass demonstrating some durability. The flashlight broke as soon as my son held it- the bottom fell off and we had to superglue it back, but it still looks broken. The binoculars are ok but not terribly adjustable. I m not sure about the point of the whistle as I m not letting my 5 and 3 year olds into the woods alone. The compass is pretty good and they re learning how to use it, but the rest of the set is probably going in the garbage by the end of the year. I was hesitant to invest in quality explorer gear because they are young and prone to breaking things anyway but this stuff never even had a chance, so it looks like I ll have to do some more research.
